High-tech handling
Taking cues from Amazon and Google, two Scottish companies have paired up to create a global intelligence platform for the energy supply chain.
Logistics specialist Peterson and data-streaming company StreamBA are digitising the supply chain, and drawing on Google’s technology to do it.
The result, VOR, is designed to use the collective intelligence of the supply chain to make smart decisions quickly, says Steven Calder, managing director of StreamBA.
The company likes to call VOR the “single global source of operational truth”.
VOR, which shares a name with the all-knowing goddess of Norse mythology, stands for visibility on request. VOR tracks materials from origin to the platform and simplifies logistics.
“We’re triggering decisions and presenting options to humans,” says Peterson finance and commercial director John Bain.
